WHEAT offers many opportunities for volunteers to share their time, talent and skills. No prior experience needed! Some of the ways you can get involved include:
- Assisting clients and customers with choosing merchandise.
- Sorting, processing and tagging items.
- Greeting and answering inquiries.
- Restocking items and creating attractive displays.
- Preparing Everyday Essentials Kits for clients.
- Providing administrative support.
- Receiving, unloading and stocking incoming inventory.

I want to volunteer! How do I schedule a volunteer opportunity?
First, complete and submit our online Volunteer Application for review. Then, our Director of Operations will contact you to schedule your Volunteer Information Session.
What days and times are individual volunteer shifts available?
WHEAT provides volunteer opportunities Tuesday thru Saturday with three shifts to choose from:
- Morning shift: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
- Afternoon shift: 11:30 am – 2:30 pm
- All day shift: 9:30 am – 2:30 pm
Can children volunteer with WHEAT?
We welcome children ages 10 to 13 to volunteer with a parent or guardian. Youth ages 14 and older may volunteer independently with parent or guardian permission.
I have a group that would like to volunteer together. What do we need to know?
Thank you for considering WHEAT! The largest group size we can accommodate at one time is 25 people. If you have a group larger than 25, we request that you break yourselves into smaller groups and join us to volunteer on separate days.

I’m in high school. Do you offer service hour verification for required volunteer hours?
Yes! High school students are welcome to volunteer with WHEAT. High school students under the age of 18 may volunteer independently with parent or guardian permission.
First, complete and submit our online Volunteer Application for review. Then, our Director of Operations will contact you to schedule your Volunteer Information Session. At that session, we will coordinate a volunteer opportunity that fits best with your school requirements.
I’m in college. Do you offer service hour verification for credit or required volunteer hours?
Yes! We welcome college students to volunteer with us. Whether you’re volunteering on your own or to meet a course or degree requirement, we’d love to have you join us.

Can I complete court ordered community service hours with WHEAT?
Youth ages 14-18, currently enrolled in high school, can complete their court ordered community service hours with us.
At this time, we cannot assist adults seeking court ordered community service hours.
